Scripture
"Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober." — 1 Thessalonians 5:6
Message
There is a difference between being physically awake and being spiritually awake. A person can be active throughout the day while their spirit remains unaware of what God is saying and doing.
Paul's instruction to the believers was clear: watch and be sober.
Spiritual alertness requires us to pay attention to our walk with God. We must guard against complacency, distraction, compromise, and the gradual loss of spiritual hunger.
The enemy does not always destroy through dramatic attacks. Sometimes he simply keeps believers distracted until they no longer notice that their prayer life has weakened, their passion has faded, and their hearts have become comfortable.
This is why the alarm must continue to sound.
Awakening begins when we honestly examine our hearts and return to God with renewed devotion.
Do not wait for a crisis to awaken you. Wake up now. Seek God now. Pray now. Obey now.
The time to prepare is before the storm arrives.
Golden Nugget
Spiritual alertness prepares us to recognize God's moment and respond without delay.

Prayer
Lord, awaken every sleeping area of my spiritual life. Help me recognize distractions and anything that is drawing my heart away from You. Keep me watchful, sober, and ready to respond to Your voice.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
