Scripture
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”— 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Message
God created humanity as a three-part being—spirit, soul, and body—each designed to function in divine order. When this order is understood, spiritual growth becomes intentional rather than accidental.
The spirit is the part of us that connects with God. It is regenerated at salvation and is designed to lead. Through the spirit, we commune with God, receive revelation, and discern His will. A healthy spirit is sensitive to the voice of God.
The soul—made up of the mind, will, and emotions—is the decision-making center. While the spirit is reborn, the soul must be renewed and trained. The soul interprets life and chooses which voice to follow. When untrained, it is easily ruled by emotions or external pressures. When renewed, it aligns with the spirit and submits to God’s truth.
The body is our earthly vessel. It gives us access to the physical world but naturally craves comfort and gratification. The body is not evil, but it must be disciplined. When the body dominates, spiritual sensitivity diminishes. When it is submitted, it becomes an instrument of righteousness.
God’s design is spirit-led, soul-aligned, and body-disciplined living. Disorder occurs when the body leads, the soul negotiates, and the spirit is ignored. Restoration comes when the spirit leads, the soul follows, and the body obeys.
Sanctification is the ongoing process of bringing the soul and body under the leadership of a renewed spirit. As this alignment is restored, we experience peace, clarity, and spiritual authority.
Beloved, spiritual maturity is not measured by feelings or experiences, but by alignment. When spirit, soul, and body walk in God’s order, we live whole and effective lives.
Golden Nugget
Spiritual strength flows from divine order: spirit leading, soul agreeing, body obeying.
