Dwelling, Not Visiting

Updated: Jul 21

Scripture:

Psalm 91:1 — “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Message:

Many believers visit God's Presence during crises, special meetings, or emotional moments—but few dwell there. Psalm 91 doesn’t promise covering and protection to visitors, but to dwellers. To “dwell” means to live, to remain, to build your life around the Presence of God.

The secret place is not a physical location—it’s a spiritual posture. It’s where your spirit communes with His daily. It’s cultivated in prayer, meditation on the Word, surrender, and silence. You don’t stumble into it; you prioritize it.

Those who dwell in His Presence don’t panic in adversity. They carry peace because they live in proximity to the Prince of Peace. They don’t just speak about God—they speak from the place where they’ve been with Him.

God invites us to abide, not just approach. He desires a habitation, not a visitation. If you long for stability in unstable times, make the secret place your permanent residence.

Golden Nugget:

The secret place becomes your strong place when it becomes your dwelling place.

Further Study:

  • John 15:4 — “Abide in Me, and I in you.”

  • Luke 5:16 — Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray.

  • Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.”

Prayer:

Father, teach me to dwell and not just visit. Let Your Presence become my home, my refuge, and my foundation. Pull me deeper into consistency, where I don’t just seek You occasionally, but daily. Make the secret place my first response, not my last resort. Amen.

Activation Challenge:

Schedule a fixed time for your secret place every day this week—no matter how short. Protect it like an appointment with royalty. Let this consistency begin to turn visitation into habitation.

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
