Fire Will Test Every Work

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 3:13 — “Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.”

Devotional Message:

The Day of the Lord is not only a day of judgment for the wicked—it is also a day of testing for the righteous. It is the day when all that was done in secret, all motives, all ambitions, all works—will be revealed by fire.

Many believers are laboring in ministry, building platforms, pursuing visions—but with materials that cannot survive the fire: pride, self-glory, fear of man, compromise, convenience. These things may glitter now, but only gold refined in the fire will endure.

The Day of the Lord is not impressed by numbers, events, or applause. It asks: Was this birthed by the Spirit? Was it fueled by obedience? Was it rooted in love for God or love for self? That Day will strip away the outer appearance and test the essence.

This is why repentance is not just about confessing sin—it’s about refining motives. It’s about letting God purify your desires before the fire does. It’s allowing His presence now to consume the wood, hay, and stubble of your life so that only what is eternal remains.

A Day is coming when every ministry, every sermon, every song, every post, every hidden act—will pass through the fire. What will remain?

Don’t just work for God—walk with Him. Don’t just serve visibly—burn inwardly. Let the altar of your heart host His fire now, or the fire of that Day will expose the emptiness later.

Golden Nugget:

The fire is not your enemy—it is your purifier. Let it test your work now so it won’t consume it later.

Further Study:

  • Malachi 3:2–3 — “For He is like a refiner’s fire… He will purify the sons of Levi.”

  • 2 Corinthians 5:10 — “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.”

  • Romans 14:12 — “Each of us shall give account of himself to God.”

Prayer:

Lord, search me and test my heart. Burn away every work done from self. Purify my motives, refine my service, and align my heart with eternity. May I not fear the fire, but welcome it. Let my life and labor stand the test of that Day. I repent of every hidden pride, every false ambition—consume it now, Lord.

Activation Challenge:

Review your current activities, service, and ministry. Ask God to highlight anything you are doing in your strength or for your glory. Make a shift today—surrender it. Whether big or small, lay it on the altar and ask for heaven’s fire to refine it.

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
