MAKING ROOM FOR THE KING

Scripture:

She laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. — Luke 2:7

Message

The tragedy of the first Christmas was not the absence of celebration, but the absence of space. The inn was full, not with evil, but with ordinary life—routine, comfort, commerce, and distraction. While Heaven stood at the door, humanity was busy managing its affairs.

Jesus was not rejected because He was unwanted, but because He was unrecognized. The innkeeper did not turn away a King; he turned away a poor couple with a hidden glory. And this remains the great danger of Christmas: missing God because He arrives wrapped in simplicity and inconvenience.

Making room for the King is not about availability of space, but availability of the heart. Many have room for God as an addition, but not as Lord. We welcome Him as Savior, but resist Him as King. We sing about His birth while guarding areas of our lives from His rule.

Christ does not force His way in. He waits. He accepts the manger when the throne is denied. Yet even in humility, His presence transforms wherever He is received. The manger became more glorious than any palace because the King was there.

Christmas confronts us with a question that cannot be avoided: What occupies the room that belongs to Christ? Is it fear? Ambition? Unforgiveness? Control? Busyness? Whatever fills the space determines who rules the heart.

Making room for the King requires displacement. Something must move for Christ to reign. Pride must yield to humility. Control must yield to trust. Sin must yield to repentance. Comfort must yield to obedience.

Beloved, the same Jesus born outside the inn now knocks at the door of hearts. He does not ask for a corner—He asks for the throne. And when He is truly received, He brings peace not as decoration, but as dominion.

This Christmas, do not just celebrate His coming. Crown Him.

Golden Nugget

Jesus is willing to be born anywhere—but He reigns only where He is given room.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have crowded You out with lesser things. I open every room of my heart to You—no reservations, no resistance. Take Your rightful place as King. Rule my desires, my decisions, and my direction. I make room for You today. Amen.

Activation

Quietly reflect and ask the Holy Spirit: “What have I allowed to occupy the space meant for Christ?” Write it down. Surrender it intentionally in prayer, and invite Jesus to rule fully.

Textured Paper

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
