Scripture
“And when He had taken it down, they laid Him in a tomb… And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.” — Luke 23:53–56
Message
Between the Cross and the Resurrection, there was a day of silence. No miracles. No voices from heaven. No visible movement of God. Just a sealed tomb and shattered expectations.
This is the space many struggle to understand—the in-between season where God seems quiet.
The disciples had witnessed the power of Jesus. They had seen the sick healed, the dead raised, and the impossible become possible. Yet now, everything appeared lost. The One they believed in was gone, and heaven seemed silent. What they did not realize was that silence does not mean absence, and stillness does not mean inactivity.
While earth was quiet, heaven was still working.
The silence of Saturday was not emptiness—it was divine transition. What looked like delay was actually preparation. What seemed like defeat was the unfolding of victory beneath the surface. God was accomplishing something unseen, something eternal, something that would soon break forth in power.
There are moments in life that mirror this day. Prayers seem unanswered. Promises appear distant. Circumstances feel unchanged. It is easy to assume that God is no longer involved. But the truth is deeper:
God often works most powerfully in seasons where He appears most silent.
Faith is tested in these moments. It is easy to trust God when miracles are visible, but true faith is revealed when nothing seems to be happening. The in-between is where trust is purified. It is where dependence on
God becomes real, not just emotional.
The silence also confronts control. When God is not speaking, we are invited to rest. The disciples rested on the Sabbath, not because everything made sense, but because it was commanded. Sometimes obedience in silence is the highest form of faith.
What feels like an ending is often a transition into something greater. The tomb was not the final chapter—it was the doorway to resurrection. But before resurrection comes, there is always a moment where hope must survive without evidence.
If you are in a season where heaven feels silent, do not mistake it for abandonment. God is still working. The promise is still alive. The story is not finished.
Sunday is coming.

God’s silence is not His absence—it is often His deepest work hidden from your sight.

Prayer
Father, help me to trust You even when I cannot hear You. Strengthen my faith in seasons of silence and teach me to rest in Your promises. When I do not understand what You are doing, remind me that You are still working. Give me peace in the waiting and confidence that Your plan is unfolding perfectly.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
