Introduction
Congratulations on reaching Day 116 of your Bible reading journey! Today’s reading carries a strong and sobering message to believers living in the last days. Peter and John write as spiritual fathers, urging the Church to remain steadfast in faith, anchored in truth, and overflowing with love.
Peter prepares believers for suffering, calling them to rejoice even in fiery trials. He reminds us that we are partakers in Christ’s sufferings — and that such refining produces eternal glory. In his second letter, Peter warns against false teachers and reminds us that the Lord is not slow concerning His promise but patient, giving all a chance to repent.
John, the beloved disciple, then calls believers to abide in Christ, walk in light, and love one another sincerely. His writings reveal that true faith is known by obedience, love, and confidence before God.
In a world filled with deception and compromise, these passages remind us that the mark of maturity is abiding — standing firm in Christ until He returns.
Who is God?
God is the God of truth and love. He is righteous, patient, and merciful — not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. He is the Shepherd who cares for His flock and the Father who calls His children to walk in His light.
What are the ways of God?
God refines His people through trials, revealing His glory through their endurance. His ways call for faithfulness in suffering, love in community, and watchfulness for the return of Christ. He calls us to abide, to walk in light, and to live holy as He is holy.
What are His characters?
God is patient, faithful, and loving. He is just in judgment yet rich in mercy. He is unchanging, full of grace and truth, and desires that His people live in purity and confidence before Him.
