Today’s Reading: Joshua 15–24
Date: Monday, 21st July 2025
To the Faithful Readers
You are faithfully journeying through God’s Word, and today you will witness the completion of the land’s distribution—a significant moment of fulfillment and responsibility. The people are reminded to remain committed, not just to possession, but to wholehearted service. This is an invitation to examine your own commitment to God as you inherit your spiritual promises.
Reading Instructions
Read Joshua 15–24 carefully. Note the allocation of land to each tribe, but also pay close attention to Joshua’s final exhortations and the covenant renewal. Reflect on how possession without commitment leads to loss, and how true inheritance is linked to faithfulness.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Faithful Promiser – God fulfills every promise to give the tribes their rightful inheritance (Joshua 15–21).
The Covenant God – Joshua’s call to serve the Lord (Joshua 24:14–15) shows that God desires not just possession of land, but a people devoted to Him.
The God of Warning and Mercy – Joshua warns the people about the consequences of turning away but also offers hope for repentance and renewal.
The God Who Judges and Blesses – God’s justice is clear—faithfulness brings blessing, while disobedience invites judgment.
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God rewards obedience – The distribution of land is a reward for Israel’s faithfulness through generations.
God calls for personal choice – Joshua’s famous challenge, “Choose this day whom you will serve,” reminds us that commitment to God is a daily decision.
God honors covenant relationship – Blessings flow from a heart committed to God’s ways, and curses follow those who forsake Him.
God’s faithfulness spans generations – The land given to the tribes is a fulfillment of promises made to their ancestors, emphasizing God’s long-term faithfulness.
3. What Is His Character?
Steadfast – God does not abandon His people even when they are unfaithful; He calls them back to Himself.
Sovereign – He is the ultimate authority over land and life, directing His people’s steps.
Patient – Despite Israel’s failures, God continues to offer opportunities for renewal and restoration.
Just – Blessings and curses are tied to choices, reflecting His holiness and fairness.
Loving – God’s desire is for a relationship, not mere rule-following.
Golden Nugget
Possessing God’s promises requires more than inheritance—it demands wholehearted devotion. True blessing comes when faith meets action and commitment.
