Today’s Reading: Judges 1–10
Date: Tuesday, 22nd July 2025
To the Faithful Readers
As you continue this journey, you now enter the era of the Judges—a time marked by cycles of rebellion, repentance, and deliverance. This period reveals both the consequences of turning away from God and the mercy of a God who never gives up on His people. Your perseverance in reading mirrors the hope God extends to Israel again and again.
Reading Instructions
Read Judges 1–10 prayerfully, observing the pattern of Israel’s failures and God’s interventions. Notice the role of the judges as God’s appointed deliverers and reflect on how God’s grace operates even amid human weakness.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Patient Redeemer – Despite Israel’s repeated rebellion, God raises up judges to rescue and restore (Judges 2:16).
The Sovereign Lord of History – God’s hand directs the rise and fall of leaders and nations.
The God of Justice – He disciplines His people when they stray but always offers a way back through repentance.
The God Who Uses Imperfect People – Judges like Deborah, Gideon, and Jephthah were flawed, yet God empowered them for His purposes.
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God allows consequences but offers mercy – The cycles of oppression and deliverance show both God’s justice and grace.
God raises deliverers according to His will – Leadership and salvation come through God’s divine appointment, not human ambition.
God desires obedience and faithfulness – The peace that follows deliverance lasts only as long as Israel remains faithful.
God works through brokenness – Imperfect leaders and people still serve God’s perfect plans.
3. What Is His Character?
Patient – God waits for His people to repent rather than punishing immediately.
Powerful – He can defeat enemies even when His people feel weak and vulnerable.
Faithful – God never abandons His covenant despite Israel’s unfaithfulness.
Merciful – He continually offers restoration and hope.
Golden Nugget
God’s deliverance often comes through unexpected people and unlikely circumstances. No matter how broken or weak you feel, God can use you mightily if you remain faithful.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your patience and faithfulness. When I fail, remind me that You are a God who restores and redeems. Use me despite my weaknesses and raise me up for Your purposes. Help me to trust Your timing and Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activation Challenge
Reflect on cycles of failure and restoration in your own life. How has God delivered you before?
Identify an area where you need God’s deliverance now and pray boldly for breakthrough.
Encourage someone who feels weak or broken with the truth that God can use them mightily.
