Today’s Reading: Judges 11–21
Date: Wednesday, 23rd July 2025
To the Faithful Readers
You are nearing the end of this season of deep study. The stories in Judges 11–21 reveal a painful reality: when God’s people turn away, chaos, conflict, and moral decay follow. Yet, even amid judgment, God’s mercy continues to shine through. Your dedication to reading is a powerful witness to choosing faithfulness over failure.
Reading Instructions
Read Judges 11–21 carefully, noting the consequences of Israel’s disobedience and the turbulent times that result. Observe how God’s justice and mercy operate even in the darkest chapters, and consider what these stories teach about the importance of faithful obedience.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Just Judge – God allows consequences to follow Israel’s rebellion, showing His holiness and justice (Judges 11:25–40).
The Merciful Redeemer – Despite Israel’s sin, God continues to provide judges and deliverance (Judges 13:1).
The Sovereign Over Nations and Hearts – God’s control extends over the chaos, using even difficult circumstances to accomplish His purposes.
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God’s justice is real and serious – Disobedience leads to brokenness, conflict, and suffering.
God’s mercy endures – Even when judgment comes, God’s grace offers hope and restoration.
God works through imperfect human history – He can redeem even the most painful and confusing seasons.
God desires repentance and return – His ultimate goal is restoration and relationship.
3. What Is His Character?
Holy – God cannot overlook sin and rebellion indefinitely.
Patient – His mercy endures long, giving chance after chance.
Sovereign – No chaos or evil is outside His control.
Faithful – God remains true to His covenant promises, even when His people do not.
Golden Nugget
The chaos and consequences we see in Judges remind us that sin has real cost, but God’s mercy is greater than our failures.
Prayer
Lord, I confess the times I have turned away from You. Thank You for Your justice that corrects and Your mercy that restores. Help me to repent quickly and live faithfully. Use my story, even the broken parts, to bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
