You are moving deeper into the incredible story of David, a man after God’s own heart. Today’s chapters highlight the emergence of true faith, the testing of character, and the power of trusting God in adversity. Your journey is not just about reading but about being formed by the Word you consume. Keep going—God is doing a deep work in you!
Reading Instructions
Read chapters 17 to 26 of 1 Samuel prayerfully. Watch how David steps into divine destiny, not by human strength but by trusting God completely. From facing Goliath to fleeing from Saul, David’s story teaches profound truths about godly leadership, humility, and endurance.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Living God – David confronts Goliath not with weapons, but in the name of “the Lord of hosts” (1 Samuel 17:45). He is the God who fights for His people.
The Defender of the Faithful – God protects David repeatedly from Saul’s jealous attempts to kill him.
The Judge of Hearts – God sees beyond appearances and honors those who trust Him sincerely, as seen in David’s restraint in not killing Saul (1 Samuel 24).
The Rewarder of Integrity – Even when falsely accused or pursued, God upholds those who remain faithful.
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God honors those who honor Him – David’s refusal to harm Saul, God’s anointed, reveals reverence and trust in God’s timing.
God tests before He promotes – David faces isolation, betrayal, and danger—all part of his preparation for kingship.
God delivers through faith, not numbers – One young man with a stone and trust in God defeats a giant the army feared.
God raises leaders from unexpected places – David, a shepherd boy, becomes a warrior and future king through faith and obedience.
3. What Is His Character?
Faithful – He never abandoned David, even in the wilderness.
Powerful – He used a simple sling to bring down a giant.
Patient – God’s plan unfolds step by step, preparing David through years of hardship.
Just – God sees all injustices and promises to vindicate the righteous in due time.
Golden Nugget
Victory belongs to those who trust not in the sword, but in the Lord of Hosts. True strength lies in a heart fully surrendered to God.
Prayer
Father, thank You for reminding me that You are the One who fights my battles. Like David, help me to walk in faith, humility, and courage. Strengthen me to wait on Your timing and trust in Your justice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activation Challenge
What giants are you facing today? List them and surrender each to God.
Reflect on any areas where you're tempted to take matters into your own hands. Wait on the Lord’s timing.
Ask God to strengthen your integrity, especially when tested in hidden places.
