Day 46: My Redeemer Lives

Today’s Reading: Job 18–27

Date: Friday, 15th August 2025

The Story Behind the Story

The debate between Job and his friends escalates. Bildad paints a grim picture of the fate of the wicked, subtly implying Job fits the description. Zophar remains silent, but Eliphaz presses his accusations. Job, however, refuses to accept their verdict—his integrity remains unshaken. Amid the grief and misunderstanding, Job delivers one of Scripture’s most breathtaking declarations: “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth.” His eyes are fixed beyond the dust of his suffering to the eternal hope of vindication.

Reading Instructions

Read Job 18–27 listening to the contrast between the friends’ accusations and Job’s confident hope. Let Job’s vision of a living Redeemer challenge you—faith is not just surviving pain, it’s declaring hope in the face of it.

Guided Devotional

1. Who Is God?

  • The Living Redeemer – He is alive and will one day stand on the earth to vindicate His own.

  • The God Who Holds Final Justice – The ultimate verdict belongs to Him, not to human opinion.

  • The God Who Gives Hope Beyond the Grave – Job sees past death to a face-to-face encounter with his God.

2. What Are the Ways of God?

  • He Trains Faith Through Opposition – Even wrong accusations can sharpen our grip on truth.

  • He Gives Revelation in the Darkest Seasons – Job’s clearest vision of redemption comes at his lowest point.

  • He Leads Through Endurance, Not Explanations – Sometimes He doesn’t answer our “why,” but He strengthens our “who” we trust.

3. What Is His Character?

  • Faithful and Unchanging – Job’s Redeemer is alive now and will still be alive at the end.

  • Just and Righteous – He will right every wrong in His time.

  • Personal and Near – Job speaks of seeing God “with my own eyes,” showing His relational nature.

Golden Nugget

Faith shines brightest when hope is fixed beyond present pain. Job’s confidence in a living Redeemer is the same anchor we hold today—Jesus Christ, risen and returning.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that my Redeemer lives. Teach me to look beyond my present struggles to the day when I will see You face to face. Keep my heart steadfast when others misunderstand me, and strengthen my hope in Your justice and salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Activation Challenge

  • Declare Your Hope: Write out your own version of “I know that my Redeemer lives” and keep it where you’ll see it daily.

Textured Paper

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
