Today’s Reading: Psalms 96–105
Date: Wednesday, 27th August 2025
The Story Behind the Story
These psalms are a beautiful blend of worship, history, and covenant remembrance.
Psalms 96–99 exalt the Lord as King over all nations, calling creation itself to sing a new song and declare His glory. They remind us that His reign is marked by justice and righteousness.
Psalm 100 is a joyful psalm of thanksgiving—entering His gates with gratitude and His courts with praise.
Psalms 101–102 turn personal: David pledges to live with integrity (Psalm 101), while Psalm 102 voices the lament of the afflicted, reminding us that God listens even when we are faint.
Psalms 103–104 shift back to cosmic praise: Psalm 103 celebrates God’s compassion and forgiveness, while Psalm 104 marvels at His works in creation.
Psalm 105 is a historical psalm, recounting God’s covenant faithfulness from Abraham to Joseph and Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, reminding His people that His promises never fail.
Reading Instructions
Read Psalms 96–105 with alternating voices of worship and remembrance. Let the “new song” psalms (96–100) lift your heart, let the laments (101–102) give voice to your struggles, and let the covenant psalms (103–105) anchor your faith in God’s faithfulness through history. Ask yourself: Am I remembering and declaring God’s works in my life with as much passion as I sing His praises?
