Today’s Reading: Psalms 116–125
Date: Friday, 29th August 2025
Congratulations, beloved pilgrim, on reaching Day 60 of the Bible Marathon! You have faithfully journeyed through sixty days of Scripture, and today’s reading ushers you into a very special portion of the Psalms.
This section carries us from personal thanksgiving into the Songs of Ascent—the pilgrim hymns sung as Israel went up to Jerusalem for the great feasts. These psalms remind us that our walk with God is not only individual but also communal; each believer’s gratitude and testimony join together in a great procession of praise as we draw near to Him.
They are both deeply personal and joyfully corporate—a reminder that your story of God’s faithfulness is part of something far greater: His people ascending together into His presence.
As you read Psalms 116–125:
Start personally—thank God for His deliverance in your own life.
Move communally—picture yourself among the pilgrims ascending to God’s house, joining generations who trusted in His protection.
End prophetically—see Christ as the rejected stone who became the cornerstone of our faith.
Guided Devotional
1. Who Is God?
The Deliverer – He saves our soul from death, our eyes from tears, and our feet from stumbling (Psalm 116).
Our Refuge and Salvation – He is our strength and song (Psalm 118).
Our Keeper – He does not slumber nor sleep; He guards our going out and coming in (Psalm 121).
The Surrounding God – He is like mountains around Jerusalem, encircling His people forever (Psalm 125).
2. What Are the Ways of God?
He responds to those who call on Him in distress.
He turns rejection into glory—Christ the rejected stone became the cornerstone.
He establishes peace for His people.
He keeps His people steadfast no matter the storms.
3. What Is His Character?
Faithful – He answers when we cry.
Protective – Watching over His people without ceasing.
Victorious – The One who turns the rejected into the chosen.
Peace-Giving – He grants shalom to those who trust in Him.
Golden Nugget
The Lord is both the Deliverer of our past and the Keeper of our future—our life is secure in His hands.
