Today’s Reading:
Psalms 146–150; Proverbs 1–5
Date: Monday, 1st September 2025
To the Faithful Readers
You have completed the Psalms with songs of praise and now step into Proverbs, the book of wisdom. Today’s readings lift your heart in worship and call you to embrace wisdom as a way of life. Praise prepares your spirit, and wisdom directs your path. This is a powerful transition—from worship to walking in wisdom.
Reading Instructions
Read Psalms 146–150, noticing how every line directs all creation to praise the Lord. Then carefully study Proverbs 1–5, which reveal the foundation of wisdom: the fear of the Lord. Pay attention to the call to reject folly, embrace discipline, and treasure God’s wisdom as your life’s guide.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Object of All Praise – The Psalms end by declaring that everything that has breath must praise Him (Psalm 150:6).
The Fountain of Wisdom – True wisdom begins with Him (Proverbs 1:7).
The Protector of the Faithful – He guards His people from destruction when they walk in His ways (Proverbs 2:7–8).
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God calls His people to continual praise—not just in moments of joy, but in every season.
God gives wisdom generously to those who seek it with all their heart.
God warns against the paths of the wicked, showing the way of destruction so that His people may choose life.
3. What Is His Character?
Worthy – His majesty deserves unceasing praise.
Generous – He gives wisdom freely to those who ask.
Faithful – He protects and upholds those who walk uprightly.
Golden Nugget
The fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom, and praise is the overflow of a heart that knows Him. Together, they form a life that is both secure and fruitful.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I lift my heart in praise to You, for You alone are worthy. Teach me to fear You rightly and to walk in Your wisdom daily. Keep my feet from the path of folly, and let my life overflow with worship and understanding that honors You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
