Day 70: God’s Sovereignty Amid Nations

Today’s Reading: Isaiah 17–26

Date: Monday, 8th September 2025

To the Faithful Readers

Today’s chapters reveal God’s absolute sovereignty over nations and His unwavering commitment to justice and deliverance. Isaiah 17–26 recounts the judgment of wicked nations, the protection of His people, and the ultimate triumph of God’s purposes. As you read, reflect on how God orchestrates history and uses every circumstance—even difficult ones—for His glory and the good of His people.

Reading Instructions

Read Isaiah 17–26 carefully, noting God’s control over events, His warnings against rebellion, and His promises of salvation and restoration. Consider how His sovereignty applies to your personal life and the world around you.

  • The Sovereign Over Nations – He raises and humbles kings and empires according to His plan (Isaiah 17:12–13).

  • The Protector of His People – God shields those who trust Him from the schemes of the wicked (Isaiah 25:4).

  • The Righteous Judge – He ensures justice is served and oppressors are held accountable (Isaiah 26:9).

2. What Are the Ways of God?

  • God exercises complete control over earthly powers and events.

  • God rewards faithfulness and punishes rebellion.

  • God provides peace and strength for those who trust Him, even in turbulent times.

  • God’s ultimate plan is restoration, hope, and glory for His people.

3. What Is His Character?

  • Powerful – His authority extends over all creation.

  • Faithful – He fulfills His promises to His people.

  • Just – He upholds righteousness and punishes sin.

  • Compassionate – He protects and provides for those who rely on Him.

Golden Nugget

Even when the world seems chaotic, God’s sovereignty assures us that nothing is outside His control, and His people will ultimately triumph.

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
