To the Faithful Readers
Today’s chapters introduce the prophet Jeremiah and God’s call upon his life. Jeremiah 1–10 emphasizes God’s sovereignty, His knowledge of His people, and the courage required to obey Him even in the face of opposition. As you read, consider how God calls each of His children to faithfulness, courage, and steadfastness in a world that often opposes righteousness.
Reading Instructions
Read Jeremiah 1–10 attentively. Notice God’s call to Jeremiah, His promises to protect him, and the warnings given to Judah. Reflect on how God equips and strengthens His people for the challenges of obedience and faithfulness.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Sovereign Creator – God knows His people intimately and has a plan for each life (Jeremiah 1:5).
The Protector of the Faithful – He promises to be with those He calls (Jeremiah 1:8).
The Just Judge – He warns of the consequences of rebellion and sin (Jeremiah 2:13).
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God calls His people to courage and faithfulness, even when it is difficult.
God equips and strengthens those He calls to fulfill His purposes.
God desires obedience and repentance, warning of the consequences of disobedience.
God’s plans are higher than human understanding, and His purposes prevail.
3. What Is His Character?
Faithful – He never abandons those He calls.
Holy – He calls for righteousness and purity.
Powerful – No opposition can thwart His plan.
Compassionate – He warns His people out of love, seeking their restoration.

God calls each of us to obedience and courage. Even in the face of opposition, His presence and strength make faithful living possible.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for calling me to faithfulness and courage. Strengthen me to obey You, protect me in trials, and guide my steps according to Your purpose. Help me to trust Your plans, even when they seem challenging. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activation Challenge
Identify an area where you need courage to obey God and commit to act in faith today.
Memorize Jeremiah 1:8 and meditate on God’s promise to be with you.
Encourage someone who is facing a challenge to trust in God’s presence and guidance.
