Today’s Reading: Ezekiel 4–13
Date: Friday, 19th September 2025
To the Faithful Readers
Ezekiel’s prophetic journey now deepens. Through symbolic acts, visions, and God’s messages, Ezekiel becomes a “watchman” for Israel, warning them of judgment and calling them back to faithfulness. As you read, notice how God communicates both His grief over sin and His desire for His people to repent before it’s too late.
Reading Instructions
Read Ezekiel 4–13 carefully. Pay attention to the prophetic signs (the symbolic brick, the rationed bread, lying on one side) and how they demonstrate the seriousness of sin. Reflect on God’s commissioning of Ezekiel as a watchman and how His call to repentance echoes into our lives today.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Communicating God – He uses visions, symbols, and direct words to reveal His heart (Ezekiel 4:1–17).
The Watchful Judge – He sets Ezekiel as a watchman to warn His people (Ezekiel 3:17; 33:7–9).
The Jealous Lord – He despises idolatry and false worship, which defile His temple (Ezekiel 8:5–18).
The Protector of the Faithful – He preserves a remnant who grieve over sin (Ezekiel 9:4).
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God warns before judgment, giving opportunities for repentance.
God reveals sin clearly so that His people cannot excuse it.
God holds leaders and prophets accountable for their guidance (Ezekiel 13:1–16).
God preserves and marks those who remain faithful to Him.
3. What Is His Character?
Holy – He will not tolerate idols or corruption.
Righteous – His judgments are fair and measured.
Gracious – He warns before acting, longing for repentance.
Faithful – He always keeps a remnant, preserving His covenant.
Golden Nugget
God still appoints watchmen today—voices who warn, intercede, and call His people back. His judgment is real, but His mercy marks and preserves the faithful.
Prayer
Lord, I hear Your call to holiness and repentance. Help me to turn away from every idol and distraction. Make me watchful in prayer and bold in warning others with love. Seal me with Your Spirit, that I may remain faithful to the end. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activation Challenge
Identify an “idol” in your life (anything that competes with God’s place) and surrender it in prayer.
Read Ezekiel 9:4 and ask God to give you His burden for the sins of your city or nation.
Take a step as a “watchman” today—share a warning, word of encouragement, or prayer with someone God places on your heart.
