To the Faithful Readers
Ezekiel 14–23 reveals God’s deep grief over Israel’s unfaithfulness. Through prophetic warnings, He exposes idolatry, rebellion, and spiritual adultery. These chapters remind us that God’s love is not indifferent; He grieves when His people turn away, yet His ultimate desire is their restoration.
Reading Instructions
Read Ezekiel 14–23 attentively. Observe God’s descriptions of Israel’s sins, the symbolic acts illustrating their rebellion, and His warnings of judgment. Reflect on how God desires wholehearted devotion and how He calls His people to repentance and faithfulness.
Guided Devotional
1. Who is God?
The Faithful Husband – He calls His people to fidelity, likening rebellion to spiritual adultery (Ezekiel 16:15–22).
The Righteous Judge – He warns and punishes unfaithfulness while offering a path to restoration (Ezekiel 18:30–32).
The Merciful Restorer – God’s ultimate aim is renewal and reconciliation for those who repent (Ezekiel 20:42–44).
2. What Are the Ways of God?
God grieves over sin but provides clear paths for repentance.
God uses warnings, visions, and symbols to awaken hearts to righteousness.
God’s judgment is purposeful, aiming to lead people back to obedience.
God treasures faithfulness and punishes idolatry to preserve His covenant.
3. What Is His Character?
Holy – He cannot tolerate persistent sin.
Just – His judgments are fair and measured.
Patient – He allows time for repentance before executing justice.
Loving – Even amid judgment, His goal is the restoration of His people.
Golden Nugget
God’s grief over unfaithfulness reminds us that sin has consequences, but His mercy is always available to those who turn back to Him.
