Day 89: God’s Justice and Restoration

Today’s Reading: Amos 1–9 & Obadiah 1

Date: Saturday, 27th September 2025

To the Faithful Readers

Today’s reading confronts both sin and the promise of restoration. Amos delivers God’s warnings against Israel and the surrounding nations for their injustice, oppression, and idolatry. Obadiah emphasizes God’s judgment on Edom for pride and cruelty. Yet woven through these messages is hope—God’s ultimate plan is to restore His people and establish justice and righteousness.

Reading Instructions

Read Amos 1–9 and Obadiah 1 attentively, noting God’s calls for justice, repentance, and humility. Observe the consequences of sin for individuals and nations, and reflect on how God balances judgment with the promise of restoration for those who return to Him.

Guided Devotional

1. Who is God?

  • The Just Judge – He does not overlook oppression, injustice, or pride (Amos 1:3–2:6).

  • The Restorer – Despite judgment, He promises to rebuild and bless His people (Amos 9:11–15).

  • The Sovereign Lord – He holds nations accountable and executes His will perfectly (Obadiah 1:4–15).

2. What Are the Ways of God?

  • God demands justice and righteousness from His people.

  • God judges nations and individuals according to their deeds.

  • God promises restoration and blessing for those who repent.

  • God’s sovereignty over history ensures His plans are fulfilled.

3. What Is His Character?

  • Holy – He cannot tolerate sin and oppression indefinitely.

  • Faithful – He keeps His promises to restore and bless.

  • Sovereign – He rules over all nations and peoples.

  • Compassionate – Even in judgment, He longs to see His people restored.

Textured Paper

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
