Day 90: Mercy, Justice, and Humble Obedience

Today’s Reading: Jonah 1–4 & Micah 1–7

Date: Sunday, 28th September 2025

To the Faithful Readers

Today’s reading highlights God’s patience, mercy, and call to righteous living. Jonah’s story reminds us that God pursues even the reluctant and rebellious, offering mercy to those who turn from sin. Micah emphasizes justice, mercy, and humility as the true expressions of faith. Together, these readings teach that obedience, repentance, and a humble heart align us with God’s purposes.

Reading Instructions

Read Jonah 1–4 attentively, noticing God’s persistence in calling Jonah and His mercy toward Nineveh. Then read Micah 1–7, reflecting on God’s demand for justice, love, and humility. Observe how God balances warning and compassion, calling His people to righteous living.

Guided Devotional

1. Who is God?

  • The Merciful Savior – He offers forgiveness and restoration even to those who have rebelled (Jonah 3:10).

  • The Righteous Judge – He calls for justice, punishes sin, yet delights in repentance (Micah 6:8).

  • The Patient Teacher – He continues to guide, warn, and instruct His people toward obedience.

2. What Are the Ways of God?

  • God pursues those who are lost or disobedient.

  • God values repentance and humility more than sacrifice or outward religious rituals.

  • God calls His people to live justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.

  • God demonstrates patience and mercy toward nations and individuals alike.

3. What Is His Character?

  • Compassionate – He relents from judgment when His people turn.

  • Holy – He demands justice and righteousness.

  • Patient – He gives opportunities for correction and growth.

  • Faithful – He keeps His promises to restore and bless those who obey.

God’s mercy is greater than our failures, and true faith is expressed through justice, mercy, and humble obedience.

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
