Day 95 - Theme: The Road to the Cross — Embracing the Mission of the Messiah

Today’s Reading: Matthew 17–26

Friday, 3rd October 2025

Introduction

Today’s reading takes us to the heart of Jesus’ mission on earth. As His ministry progresses, Jesus begins to reveal the depth of His calling — not only as a teacher and miracle worker but as the suffering Messiah who must lay down His life for the salvation of humanity. From the Mount of Transfiguration to the Garden of Gethsemane, every step leads closer to the cross. Here we witness the weight of divine purpose, the cost of obedience, and the depth of God’s redemptive plan unfolding before our eyes.

This section of Scripture challenges us to move beyond admiration of Jesus’ works into full participation in His mission — embracing the cross and following Him in surrender and obedience.

Who is God?

God is the Redeemer who fulfills His promises through sacrifice. He is sovereign over history, yet deeply involved in the details of humanity’s redemption. He is just and merciful, loving yet righteous, and willing to pay the highest price to restore us to Himself.

What are the ways of God?

God’s ways are marked by humility, sacrifice, and purpose. He chooses the path of suffering to bring salvation, turning what seems like defeat into victory. His ways invite us to trust Him even when we don’t fully understand, knowing that His plans lead to resurrection life.

What are His characters?

God is self-giving, faithful, merciful, and steadfast. He is patient with human weakness, compassionate toward the broken, and relentless in His pursuit of redemption. His character is fully revealed in Jesus — who humbles Himself, serves others, and willingly embraces the cross for our sake.

Golden Nugget

The cross is not just where Jesus died — it’s where God’s love was fully revealed. To follow Him is to embrace that same path of surrender and obedience.

Prayer

Father, thank You for sending Jesus to walk the road to the cross for my salvation. Teach me to embrace Your will even when it requires sacrifice. Give me strength to follow You wholeheartedly, to carry my cross daily, and to live for Your glory. May my life reflect the depth of Your love revealed through Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Textured Paper

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
