Today’s Reading: Luke 1–10
Monday, 6th October 2025
Introduction
Today’s reading takes us back to the beginning of the Gospel story as Luke carefully records the events surrounding the birth and early ministry of Jesus. We encounter the faith of Zechariah and Elizabeth, the obedience of Mary, and the prophetic declarations over John the Baptist and Jesus. In these chapters, we see that God’s plan of salvation is not a sudden event but a story written from eternity — now unfolding in human history.
Jesus’ ministry begins with power and purpose. He proclaims good news to the poor, freedom for the captives, and sight for the blind. He calls disciples, demonstrates authority over sickness and demons, forgives sins, and teaches about the kingdom of God. The call is clear: the kingdom has come near, and the response is repentance, faith, and wholehearted followership.
Who is God?
God is faithful to fulfill His promises across generations. He is the Author of salvation and the One who orchestrates history according to His purpose. He is merciful and gracious, visiting His people and redeeming them through His Son.
What are the ways of God?
God’s ways are redemptive and purposeful. He works through ordinary people and miraculous interventions alike. He prepares the way before fulfilling His word, and He always brings light into darkness. His ways are often unexpected but always perfect and filled with love.
What are His characters?
God is faithful, merciful, and sovereign. He is compassionate toward the broken and patient with the slow to believe. His holiness is matched by His kindness, and His power is revealed in both humility and authority.
Golden Nugget
God’s plan may unfold slowly, but it is never delayed. Every promise finds its fulfillment in Jesus — the light that breaks into our darkness.”
Prayer
Father, thank You for being the God who keeps His promises. Open my eyes to see Your hand at work in my life and in the world around me. Help me respond with faith and obedience, just as Mary and the disciples did. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in and through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activation Challenge
Reflect: Where have you been waiting for God’s promises?Respond: Surrender that waiting season to Him in prayer and trust His timing.Renew: Share the story of Jesus with someone this week — the same good news proclaimed in Luke’s Gospel.
