LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF GOD
Scripture
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” — John 10:27 (NKJV)
Message
One of the greatest responsibilities of a believer is learning to recognize and follow the voice of God. Every day, we encounter different voices that seek to influence our thinking, decisions, and direction. Some come through people, others through circumstances, personal desires, fear, or the values of the world around us.
In the midst of these influences, God calls us to remain attentive to His voice.
Jesus describes His followers as sheep who hear His voice and follow Him. This shows us that our relationship with God is not meant to be distant or passive. We are called to know Him, understand His ways, and respond to His leading.
However, recognizing God's voice requires a heart that is attentive to His Word. We cannot consistently ignore Scripture and expect to walk accurately in His wisdom. God's Word establishes the foundation through which we discern truth, evaluate ideas, and make decisions that honour Him.
Sometimes, what God says may challenge our preferences. His instructions may require patience when we want immediate results, forgiveness when we feel hurt, or obedience when the easier option is to compromise. Yet, genuine discipleship means trusting God's wisdom above our own understanding.
Remember that not every strong feeling is God's voice, and not every open door is necessarily His direction. We must test what we hear against Scripture and seek His wisdom with humility.
As you go through today, create room to listen to God through prayer, meditation on His Word, and obedience to what He has already revealed. Do not allow the noise around you to become louder than the truth within His Word.
The goal is not merely to hear God's voice, but to follow Him faithfully.
Golden Nugget
The more deeply you know God's Word, the better equipped you become to discern His truth amid competing voices.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting me into a relationship with You. Teach me to recognize Your truth and follow Your direction faithfully. Quiet the distractions that compete for my attention and help me develop a consistent life of prayer and meditation on Your Word. Give me discernment to distinguish between Your wisdom and the influences that lead me away from Your purposes. When Your instructions challenge my desires, give me the courage to obey You. May my heart remain sensitive to Your leading, and may my life reflect the character and wisdom of Christ. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
