Tooro–Rwenzori Region Prayer Sunday

Date: August 17, 2025

Venue: King’s Palace International Evangelical Church (KPIEC), Kampala

1. Background and Purpose

The Tooro–Rwenzori (Tooro_Rw) Region—commonly referred to as Greater Tooro—comprises ten districts in Western Uganda: Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, Kabarole, Bunyangabu, Kasese, Bwera, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo, Kitagwenda, and Kamwenge.

This region carries a rich cultural and spiritual heritage, deeply rooted in Uganda's history and the Kingdom of Tooro. Recognizing the urgent need for spiritual alignment and redemptive purpose in our time, this special Prayer Sunday is being organized with the following core objectives:

a) To Unite the People of Tooro_Rw in Worship, Repentance, and Intercession

We are gathering the people of this region—both residents and those in the diaspora—for a solemn time of seeking the Lord together. In humility, we acknowledge the spiritual condition of our land and call upon the mercy of God to heal, restore, and redeem Tooro_Rw.

b) To Discover and Align with God’s Redemptive Purpose for Tooro_Rw

Many prophetic voices and historical records point to a divine calling over this region. Through teaching and prophetic insight, we will learn what God is saying about the spiritual destiny of Tooro_Rw, and how we, as His people, can walk in obedience to bring it to fulfillment.

c) To Re-dig the Wells of Revival Initiated During Omukama Daudi Kasagama Kyebambe III’s Reign (1891–1928)

History records that spiritual revival was ignited in Tooro in 1896, when Omukama Daudi Kasagama Kyebambe III was baptized into Christianity. This gathering will symbolically and prayerfully re-dig the ancient wells—seeking the same spirit of revival, consecration, and kingdom governance to be restored in our generation.

d) To Stand in Intercession for His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV

Omukama Oyo is not only a cultural leader but a king who has publicly dedicated his life to Christ. As he continues to serve in the unique role of both king and priest, the Church is called to stand with him in prayer—asking God to strengthen, guide, and preserve him as a righteous leader for this generation.

2. Overview of the Event

The Prayer Sunday will be hosted by King’s Palace International Evangelical Church (KPIEC), located in Kampala—a spiritual home where His Majesty Omukama Oyo and the Queen Mother often fellowship when in the capital city.

This event is strategically scheduled ahead of the annual Empango celebrations, which mark 30 years since Omukama Oyo’s coronation in 1995.

While the Omukama is personally born again and deeply committed to the Christian faith, some traditional Empango rituals remain culturally rooted in practices that conflict with biblical convictions. As such, this Prayer Sunday is not merely a ceremonial occasion—it is a spiritual gatekeeping assignment, intended to redeem the spiritual atmosphere surrounding Empango and to establish God’s purposes over the land and the people.

3. What to Expect

Participants can anticipate the following key highlights during the Prayer Sunday:

  • Ministration by Apostle John Mulinde – A respected father in the faith and voice to the nations, Apostle Mulinde will lead the charge with prophetic insight and a call to rededication.

  • Spiritual Heritage Recount – A deep reflection on the spiritual journey of Tooro_Rw, aimed at stirring the people’s hearts toward covenant renewal.

  • Corporate Covenant Renewal – A sacred moment where the people of the region will recommit themselves in unity to serve God and uphold His purposes over their lives, their king, and the land.

  • Strategic Intercession – Focused prayer segments covering the monarchy, the Church, leadership, families, the land, and the upcoming Empango celebrations.

His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV

  • Royal Presence – His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and Her Royal Highness the Queen Mother Best Kemigisa will be in attendance, lending their spiritual and cultural support to this redemptive gathering.

4. Who Should Attend

This gathering is open to:

  • All people from the Tooro–Rwenzori Region, both in Uganda and the diaspora

  • Church leaders, intercessors, elders, and youth

  • Friends and allies of Tooro who carry a burden for the land and desire to see God’s Kingdom established in this region

Final Note

Tooro_Rw stands at a prophetic crossroads.

As Scripture says:

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray…”— 2 Chronicles 7:14

Then healing and restoration will come. Let us arise and take our place as spiritual gatekeepers over Tooro—redeeming our past, declaring God’s truth over our future, and standing with our Omukama as he leads in righteousness.

Textured Paper

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last]

and HIS BRIDE (the redeemed) HAS PREPARED HERSELF.”

She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

Then the angel said to me,

“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”And he said to me [further],

“These are the true

and exact words of God.”
